Tension springs – Custom manufacturing, technical development, and precision processing
MIBO Springs is a leading specialist in the custom production of tension springs made from high-quality round wire. Tension springs are designed to absorb and store energy by creating resistance to a pulling force, returning to their original state once the load is released. We provide comprehensive supplies for the engineering, automotive, and electrical industries. Our direct production capacity covers wire diameters from 0,5 mm to 3,15 mm. Thanks to a proven network of cooperation partners, we supply springs in an extended range from 0,25 mm up to 10,0 mm, covering nearly all industrial applications requiring maximum reliability under tension.
Loop types according to DIN 2097
The end geometry of a tension spring is crucial for its proper attachment within a mechanism. We manufacture springs with various loop types in accordance with the DIN 2097 technical standard. The choice of loop type affects not only the ease of assembly but also the fatigue strength of the spring at the bend point.

Premium materials and certified standards
To ensure high elasticity and resistance to force loss, we use certified materials according to European standards. In addition to standard spring steel (EN 10270-1) and stainless steel (1.4310), we also offer special materials for extreme conditions upon request.
| Material | EN Standard | DIN Standard | Max. Temperature | Rm (Tensile Strength) | Technical Properties |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SH / DH (1.1200) | 10270-1 | 17223-1 | 80 °C | 1200 - 2000+ MPa | High dynamic load capacity, patented wire |
| STAINLESS (1.4310) | 10270-3 | 17224 | 250 °C | 1250 - 2000 MPa | High resistance to corrosion and aggressive environments |
| VDC | 10270-2 | 17223-2 | 120 °C | 1300 - 2100 MPa | Oil-tempered wire, high fatigue strength |
| VDSiCr | 10270-2 | 17223-2 | 250 °C | 1600 - 2300 MPa | Alloy steel for extreme dynamic stress |
| X7CrNiAl17-7 (1.4568) | 10270-3 (1.4568) | 17224 | 350 °C | 1400 - 1900 MPa | High-strength stainless steel resistant to high temperatures |
Loop position (orientation)
For tension springs with loops, it is important to define their mutual angular position to prevent unwanted torsion during assembly. The position is defined in degrees in a clockwise direction.
Position 0°

Position 90°

Position 180°

Position 270°

Direction of coiling
Similar to compression springs, we distinguish the coiling direction for tension springs as well. We standardly manufacture right-hand springs (RH), but according to specifications, we can also produce left-hand variants (LH). The coiling direction is particularly important in assemblies where springs are nested within each other or in mechanisms involving simultaneous rotational movement.

DIMENSIONS OF TENSION SPRINGS
-
For the correct design of a tension spring, the key parameters are the free length L0, outside diameter De, wire diameter d, and the total number of coils n.
-
Our technical specialists can manufacture springs exactly according to your drawing documentation, taking into account the required force values in the extended state Fn.

De - outside diameter
Di - inside diameter
d - wire diameter
Lh - internal loop height
Lk - body length
L0 - free length
Ln - max. extended length
F0 - initial tension
sn - max. stroke (extension)
Fn - max. force at Ln
Heat treatment
The manufacturing process of every tension spring concludes with controlled heat treatment. This process removes internal stresses generated during cold forming of the wire. The result is dimensional stability, consistent loop geometry, and the maintenance of a constant tensile force throughout the component's entire service life.
Surface treatment
The surface treatment of tension springs primarily serves to increase their resistance to corrosion and aggressive environmental influences. A high-quality finish protects critical areas, especially in the loop bends. Depending on customer requirements, we provide:

Stainless steel
